Help shape Preston’s green spaces
As we continue to develop our plans for the renewal of Preston, we’re taking a closer look at the future of the area’s green spaces and landscape.
You’ve told us that protecting and enhancing these spaces is important to you, with ideas including more natural planting, increased biodiversity and better places to play, relax and meet others.
Explore Preston’s landscape proposals
Take a look at our landscape proposals below to explore the ideas we’re considering for some of Preston’s green spaces. These proposals are still in development, and we’d really value your feedback.
Tell us what you like, what you would change, and which ideas and priorities matter most to you.
Wild Flower Planting
There are large areas of short mown grass that are fenced off or next to roads that offer very little ecological value and are not often used.
Wild flower seeding in some of these areas could greatly increase biodiversity and add a lot of colour and interest through the year.
Community Growing
Would you be interested in managing a small bed to start growing food, plants or flowers?
Simple raised beds could be installed in key locations and managed by residents.
Please get in touch if you’d be interested.
Tree Planting
Some grass areas and verges could benefit from new tree planting.
Additional tree coverage could increase biodiversity, provide shade in the summer and improve opportunities for the local community to make more use of these spaces.
Play on the Way / Trim Trail
You have mentioned that, other than the park area, there is not much to do in the green spaces.
Some key locations could be transformed to offer opportunities for informal play, seating or outdoor exercise as part of a trim trail.
Street Trees
Would you like to see more tree-lined streets in Preston?
Street trees do a lot to make streets more liveable, improve air quality, reduce temperatures in hot weather and help mitigate noise.
Traffic Improvements
Do you think there are places where traffic feels too fast or unsafe? Are there locations that could benefit from a pedestrian crossing?
We are consulting on opportunities for traffic calming measures that could improve pedestrian and cycle safety, reduce car dependency and parking issues.
